According to the information from Hong Kong Buildings Department, building neglect has been a long-standing problem in Hong Kong. The presence of ageing buildings, which lack proper care and maintenance, poses potential threats to residents and the public at large. Therefore, owners of buildings aged 30 years or above (except domestic buildings not exceeding 3 storeys) may served with statutory notices from Buildings Department to carry out the required repair works. Mandatory Window Inspection Scheme (MWIS) Kin Yik Construction Engineering Limited is a registered contractor to provide window inspection and repair works. Under the MWIS, the Buildings Department may issue statutory notices to owners to carry out the prescribed inspection and prescribed repair. The buildings aged 10 years or above (except domestic buildings not exceeding 3 storeys) would be requested to appoint a qualified person to carry out the prescribed inspection and supervise the prescribed repair works once every 5 years.
